Tropicana Las Vegas
This sign is part of the collection at The Neon Museum Las Vegas. The sign has the following description on their website:
This property’s early history involved many notorious organized crime figures, resulting in subsequent ownership changes during the 1970s and 1980s. Among the investors during this period of instability were performer Sammy Davis Jr.-one of the first Black casino investors-and heiress Mitzi Stauffer Briggs-one of the first female casino investors. The Tropicana was celebrated for its successful “Folies Bergere” production, which ran from 1959 to 2009.
This blue signage is from a covered entrance canopy installed as part of the property’s 1978 renovation, a collaboration between prolific Las Vegas sign designers Jack Dubois and Raul Rodriguez.
